On October 5th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ITPC) in collaboration with AEON Vietnam Co., Ltd. (AEON Vietnam) organized the opening ceremony of the “Vietnamese Business Products Exhibition Week 2023”.

Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of ITPC, said that Japan has been Vietnam’s leading economic and trade partner in recent years. The trade exchange between Vietnam and Japan has been relatively balanced, sustainable, and stable. The bilateral trade volume in 2022 reached nearly 50 billion USD, with Vietnam exporting 24.2 billion USD to Japan and importing 23.4 billion USD from Japan. Currently, Japan is the 4th largest trading partner and the 3rd largest export market of Vietnam. In the first 8 months of 2023 alone, the Vietnam-Japan trade turnover is estimated to reach 29.1 billion USD.

To support businesses in expanding their consumer markets, since the beginning of 2023, ITPC has implemented various programs such as product exhibition weeks, trade promotion conferences, and connection meetings to introduce Vietnamese goods to modern commercial centers and distribution systems.

“The Vietnamese Business Products Exhibition Week” is an annual trade promotion event aimed at enhancing cooperation between AEON Group and Vietnamese businesses that have products meeting quality standards, ensuring food safety and having reputable brands.

The program is expected to use the AEON supermarket chain to bring Vietnamese branded products to domestic and international consumers. At the same time, it also provides opportunities for businesses to assess product quality, capture consumer trends to guide suitable production, gradually improve the quality and competitive capacity of products, aiming to export to the Japanese market and other markets with high-quality product requirements.

According to Mr. Tran Phu Lu, the exhibition week has attracted over 210 businesses to register for participation, of which 34 businesses meet the evaluation criteria and have been selected for exhibition and introduction. The criteria of “safety, new products, regional characteristics, and traditions” are particularly emphasized in the selection of exhibited products. The displayed products include packaged and processed foods such as tea, coffee, spices, confectionery, dried agricultural products, health-beneficial products, and agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, fruits, with a priority on organic products…

“The Product Exhibition Week and Business Connection with AEON will be a positive channel to support the development of the business community, create conditions for businesses to produce high-quality and competitive goods and services. At the same time, it helps businesses promote products, expand consumer markets, connect with trade partners and distribution systems both domestically and internationally,” emphasized Mr. Tran Phu Lu.

Mr. Takeuchi Takashi, Deputy General Director of Office Block – AEON Vietnam, said that AEON Vietnam is committed to not only providing quality products but also actively contributing to sustainable development and promoting the economy through retail activities and accompanying programs to support manufacturers and suppliers.

In addition, AEON Vietnam also seeks to find more production and processing partners for its private label products, AEON TOPVALU, in order to provide customers with “distinctive products”, focusing on products that serve healthy living trends.
